Just a normal day after work and I had actually decided to go for run, I was excited to be out of breath and sore tomorrow but thats not going to happen now. I told Chris I was going to take Misha with me to run so he went outside to let her out, well he noticed that she was slower to get up and was favoring her left side. Well I made it outside ready to run and she seen me and of course jetted towards me like usual. After she said hi she went and waited by the door.. well I stood at the steps and left plenty of room for her to get through and she managed to somehow still almost knock me down.. I mean she weighs probably 90lbs.
Well after she got in I noticed she was running into everything, ran in to the living room table, went in to the kitchen knocked a chair over.. She is never this clumsly. Well Chris said "babe, there is something wrong with her" and I seen it on his face, he was worried. I called the Emergency Vet and explained the symptoms and they paged the Doctor for me. Seems like forever but the vet finally called (it was like 7 minutes lol) and I told her the symptoms. She said if I was really concerned I could bring her in but if not she would tell us what to do from home. Well I told Chris and he wanted to take her in. The vet said she would meet us there in 15 min.
The ride there I rode in the back with her and she cried the whole way. :( broke my heart. She's a big girl and never wimpers. When we got there we got her out and she wanted to play so bad. The vet told us to take her inside and of course she was running into everything. Slipping on the floor, hitting the benches and favoring the left side. The vet said she couldn't tell because it was a slick floor so she got a leash and we took her outside.
When we got out there she was falling over and standing with her toes under her foot instead of flat on the ground. She was so excited to be somewhere new but couldn't enjoy it.
Well the vet said after 5 minutes of watching her that it was probably a neurological disorder, pinched nerve, buldging disk in her back or something. But she said it was very abnormal and that she hasn't ever seen anything like it. First thing I thought was a stroke, but the vet said dogs do have the part in the brain which allows there to be a stroke but if they did, these are the key characteristics for it.
We took her inside and made her relax, well tried. She was so anxious. The vet did several tests on her.. a pain test, she would pinch her skin and toes on her left side and she had no feeling. But on her right side she would respond immediately. The vet said she had deep pain but not superficial meaning she could feel it deep down but not on the surface. She had a temperature of 102.6. She decided to start her on steriods and gave Misha a muscle relaxer. They had to keep her over night and would re-examine her in the morning. She said in the meantime she would call a Nerological Doctor in Little Rock because she hasn't dealt with that.
The vet said she would call us if anything changes.
We just want our big girl back and well. Malakhi is worried about her. When we got back he said, where is Misha? That is HIS dog. Chris is real upset and freaked out because the vet didn't know what it was but we had to leave her there anyway.. :( So please keep her in your prayers.
